Senator Land on the the 2009 Legislative Session
SC Senate Democratic Leader's Statement on End of 2009 Legislative Session
Columbia, SC - South Carolina Senate Democratic Leader John C. Land, III (D-Manning) issued the following statement this evening on the adjournment of the South Carolina General Assembly:
"This session will be remembered more for what didn't get done than what did. And the blame lies solely at the feet of Mark Sanford. From inside and outside the chamber, Sanford and his dozen Senate supporters stunted progress."
"Instead of passing a cigarette tax for health care, Governor Sanford's Senate supporters bogged down the chamber with useless legislation and petty filibusters. And the Governor's foolish refusal to accept our stimulus dollars needlessly prevented the Senate from doing anything of substance."
"The only positive thing that came from this session: only one more legislative session with Governor Sanford."
