Senator Jackson Introduces Resolution Mourning 500,000 COVID-19 Deaths

Columbia, SC - State Senators Darrell Jackson (D-Richland) and Luke Rankin (R-Horry) introduced today a bipartisan resolution honoring and mourning the 500,000+ lives lost in the United States to COVID-19.

In the resolution, the Senators noted that the number of American deaths attributed to the Coronavirus has surpassed the number of American deaths in World War II.

“This is an unfathomable and incredibly sad milestone for our nation,” said Jackson. “Over a half a million of our brothers, sisters, and neighbors have been taken from us at the hands of this pandemic with more deaths inevitably to come. We must work harder to put an end to this tragedy.

“Included in those numbers are loved ones of my own who we have lost. My love and prayers go out to the thousands of other families who have suffered this same heartbreak. My hope is that we can come together to find a way to prevent others from having to endure that pain.”
